Mom Review: Doctor On Demand

This is sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

Updated 2018:

I was given the opportunity to use Doctor On Demand in exchange for this review. Doctor On Demand is a free app that, once downloaded to your phone, enables you to speak to an actual board certified and US licensed doctor.

Doctor On Demand Review

It was easy to get started. I downloaded the app and put in my information: name, address, DOB, etc. Once I decided to make my video call ($40 for 15 min), I entered all the necessary information for the patient, which was my daughter, so that they could give it to the doctor to review before speaking with me.

I connected to Dr. Tara, who asked a few more questions about my daughter that her pediatrician/medical assistant would ask (or ER doctor)  such as is she on medication, weight, etc. She asked the question: What have you done or are currently doing for the “problem”? I thought this was a great question because the doctor knows what has been done thus far and we can move past the stuff that has been done and move on to other remedies. I was able to take a picture of my daughter’s arm so that the doctor could see exactly what I was talking about. Dr. Wilson was pleasant to talk with and gave great recommendations for helping my daugther as well as some tips for future calls in case of a prescription purposes (if they had to send a prescription for us). It was 7 min call and I did not have to leave my house.

doctor on demandI could definitely see the benefit of this app for non threatening situations and especially if you are unable to get to your doctor during after hours or weekends. Dr. Wilson answered my questions as thoroughly as my daughter’s pediatrician would have. Use the Doctor On Demand app for the following:

  • cold, cough, flu, allergies
  • rash, pink eye, hayfever
  • asthma, bladder infections
  • pediatric questions
  • most cases that are not life threatening
  • prescriptions refills
  • referral to a specialist

I can see where this could be very useful in rural areas that are underserved by doctors. Thanks for providing the info.

This sounds like a great app! I’m fortunate where I don’t get sick often, but will keep this in mind in the future!

Looks like a great service! I hate having to go to the doctor for something you are unsure of and it ends up not being a big deal, or the fact that things always happen on the weekend when doctors aren’t available. Thanks for sharing.

It’s a great idea. Many times, there is no reason to physically see a doctor. Thanks for sharing!!!

That is an awesome app. I sometimes have questions when the doctor’s office is close and this would be perfect.

I can definitely see how this is beneficial. My company offers something similar to us (we are in the medical field). I would use it for me but not my daughter (she has too many health care needs).

I sooo love this! How handy and it makes me wonder if anyone else thinks conveniences like this are how people felt when they first started getting indoor plumbing 🙂

Sounds like a very interesting service. I might have to give it a try as I hate wasting time and money going in just to get sent home to come back if it “gets worse”. Ugh.

We used a service similar to this once. It was an online room with a nurse. Great service at night.
