The year is halfway over and I cannot believe all the good movies that have come out this year for kids. My twins (aka T&V) started watching movies 2 years ago. Their taste various a quite about from one month to the other and sometimes it is hard to get them to agree to watch the same movie. But lately, the task has been so much easier and I think if my kids can agree on watching these, your kids will too.
Here are the movies my kids are loving so far:
Finding Dory
This is a sequel to Finding Nemo. If you haven’t seen Finding Nemo, I recommend that watching that first than watching this movie. It’s about a fish named Dory who’s looking for her parents and adventure along the way. I have to say that this was a long anticipated movie that the whole family wanted to watch, me included. The kids loved it so much they wanted to stay and watch it again. So this is probably a movie that we will have on DVD.
Zoopotia
This movie is about mammal metropolis and Judy is determined to live her dream (despite the naysayers) and solve a mystery crime. Honestly, at first I was not crazy about this movie when I saw the trailer. The kids wanted to see the movie when they saw the trailer before it came out. It was a rainy day and we wanted to take the kids to the movies and I think this was the only one showing, so we went to watch it. 1) If I knew Jason Bateman was in it from the get go, I would have watched it. Love him. 2) As a parent, loved the hidden message behind the movie.
Alice Through the Looking Glass
My daughter fell in love with Alice in Wonderland with Mia Wasikowska and Johnny Depp. So, when she say this movie, it was an automatic yes when we wanted to go watch this movie. This is a very vibrant movie. I think this is a great movie for elementary kids. I had a hard time following out first, but my daughter loved explaining to me what was what and what she liked. Conversation like that to see her enthusiasm is great. I am sure we will watch this again as we watched Alice in Wonderland several times because she requests to watch it.
The Secret Life of Pets
If you have not see the trailers or know nothing about the Secret Life of Pets then you must have been under a rock. It’s a movie about a two dogs Max and Duke who end heading to a the pound and they are journey to become friends and help other abandon pets. It’s an adorable movie. Plus, who doesn’t like a movie about animals. We can’t wait to see this one.
The BFG
I confess, I did not know this was a book. Knowing that it is a book makes me more excited about this movie. The BFG has quite a few elements that make me excited for the kids to watch this. I enjoy the magic and imagination about this movie as well as the good vs. evil. I also enjoy the history in the movie as a history nerd. The kids love the trailer and I can’t wait to see it with them.
This is just for the installment and there are many more movies great kids movies that are coming out this year. So, look for another post a few months from now.
