At the request of my children, we watched a TV show called Teen Titans last night. It’s a funny show I have to admit and I will watch it with my kids just to be in the moment with them. This new episode we watched spoke volumes to me, but it was probably just another funny show to my kids. The character Robin, was upset that his two crime fighting team members were engaging in child’s play. Robin’s team members enjoyed building forts and playing tag. They were remembering the joys of trying to find treasure at the end of the rainbow and playing Cowboys and Indians. Robin, needless to say, did not like that. He kept pushing them to not have fun and to think about mortgages and being an adult. As a parent, I think we forget that play is essential for kids and sometimes for adults too. I love this great infographic by AAA State of Play that gives 34 good reason why playtime matters and its benefits. Share with those who need to have a little more playfulness in their lives.

Play definitely matters! It’s one of the best ways for kids to learn about the world they live in. I think adults should learn to play more…it’s good for everyone!
