If you are new here, I am a mom of twins (also check the About Page if you haven’t). Being in the twin moms club is pretty awesome if I don’t say so myself.

However, I asked our mom tribe of twins to tell us the best thing about being a twin mom. Here their response.

Best Thing About Being a Twin Mom

“The best part of being a mom of twins is that it has taught me to let go.”

The best part of being a mom of twins is that it has taught me to let go. From finding out we were having twins, to their birth, and everything since, I have had to let go of the control I thought I had. It has taught me to embrace every moment, planned or not, and make the best of it. So the twins won’t hug each other and look at the camera for that perfect shot- it is okay! I had planned to be out the door by noon and here I am, wrangling kids just trying to get their shoes on. It is not the end of the world. It can get crazy, and hectic, and throw you for a loop, but it is okay because it is also a beautiful, exciting ride.

“The best part about raising twins is watching them grow up together.”

Four years into raising boy girl twins, and there have been plenty of memorable moments, as well as lessons learned! Up to this point, the best part about raising twins is watching them grow up together. It’s like they were born with the teamwork mentality, even it has them getting into trouble most of the time. They help each other out, formulate plans, and know what each other is saying when someone else doesn’t. Being somewhat of an outsider looking in on their bond is something that melts my heart on a daily basis.

The best part of being a twin mom, hands down all the love. I am never without the love of my children times two. Though it is sometimes SO overwhelming with two, two year olds…the hugs, the memories, the giggles…I feel so blessed to know I am in a select group of women blessed with two miracles at once…all the stress totally worth it.

“It’s such a wonderful experience raising such a large family.”

Parenting twins is so much different than parenting singletons. We already had two children when our twins came along. At one point, we had four kids 4 years old and younger. It was insanity in our house. In fact, some days it still is. Our twins girls are best friends and worst enemies, depending on the day. It’s such a wonderful experience raising such a large family.

“One word comes to mind, blessed!”

As with many twin pregnancies, my pregnancy was a difficult one. I went into labor at 21 weeks and laid in the hospital for 4 weeks praying these little ones would stay in my tummy long enough for the doctors to try to save them (which was at 24 weeks). My twins were born at 25 weeks weighing one pound each, though the doctors warned us about their possible prognosis, I’m happy to say they are now happy and healthy 5 year olds. Coming from a place of not knowing if my children would survive their birth, and having the first 4 months of their lives be in the hospital with surgeries and lots of praying for their health, to several years of not knowing the long term effects of their catastrophic birth. One word comes to mind, blessed! After going through that you are never quite the same and you spend each and every day being grateful for the little things and thankful for the opportunity to spread the message of my two miracles.

The best part of being a twin mom is the community of other moms you join. Being a twin mom is hard, and only other twin moms can really “get” what you’re going through. I also love the fact that I was pregnant once and got two kids out of it! Ha!

“Their relationship was so special.”

I have identical 9-year-old twin boys, Dean and Caden. They are extremely athletic and love all sports. The best moment for me as a twin mom happened during one of their flag football games 2 years ago. They are very competitive but love being teammates. The coach was having every kid take turns at each position and of course my boys both want to be quarterback. When it was finally Dean’s turn, before the play was snapped, Caden quickly ran over to him and gave him a big hug on the field, you could just see the genuine excitement he had for his brother. It just made me realize their relationship was so special.

“My boys have a built-in best friend and it’s clear they think the world of each other.”

My husband and I had only been trying for a baby for a month when we found out we were pregnant with twins. I was barely ready for one baby, much less two! I cried and swore and had no idea how we’d do it. But now that we have them, I know what an incredible blessing it is. My boys have a built-in best friend and it’s clear they think the world of each other. My husband and I can’t imagine life with just one baby. As crazy as it is, I wouldn’t change it for the world!

The best part of being a twin mom is simply watching them play together. You can see a clear bond between them, and sometimes I’m just mesmerized by watching them. They’re only one, so they can’t talk yet, but they do babble back and forth in their own language. They’re a treat to just be around and I already know that I’ll miss these days!

“The different personalities.”

The best part about being a mom of twins… the different personalities. Rosie and Marybelle are 5. Rosie we call her a German baby. She likes to fold clothes, keep order, ballet and be adventurous. She is her father’s child because he is actually German, keeps an extremely tidy house and loves adventurous sports. Oh and Rosie likes to be called “Pretty”. Rosie you look so pretty today.

Marybelle has her momma’s personality. She loves pairing outfits with fun colours and frills. Chores she would rather sing the “Clean Up” song and dance to it rather than the actual art of it. She is a free spirit anything goes and goes with the flow. As for dancing she is more of a hip hop girl and adventures?? She would rather sit on the beach with momma instead of jump waves. What does Marybelle like to be called? She is our cute girl. Marybelle just love that cute outfit.

“Meeting other twin moms!”

I love being a twin mom and there is an instant bound with other twin moms. My twins have made me more compassionate mom, more aware mom, a go getter mom and much more. There has been good time and struggles and there is so much comfort talking to mom of twins and instant tribe when you say hey I have twins too – no matter if your twins are toddlers or school aged, girls or boy.
