It’s that time of year again – consignment sales. You can grab gently used items from toys to clothing and baby gear for half the price. There are good reasons and great tips shop consignment sales. However, I wanted to touch on the reasons why to consign.
5 Reasons Why to Consign
Declutter
Consignment is a fast and easy way to declutter your space. This is the perfect opportunity to clear your closets and grab clothes your kids have outgrown. Go through your closets and release the items you and hubby no longer wear. Get rid of the toys and baby gear you no longer use. Clean out the garage or basement of items you intended to do something with but never got the time to do it.
Earn Cash
Consignment allows you to earn money for the items that you no longer need. Bring them into a consignment shop or consignment sale and make some money for your furniture or clothing. With a consignment sale, you set your own prices, tag your items in the comfort of your own home, drop off your items and they do the rest if you. With consignment shop you earn your money right then and there with minimum waiting.
Helping Families Save Money
Items found during a consignment sale or consignment shop usually priced lower than prices at department stores because they are pre-owned or second-hand. You can find brand names for a fraction of the cost. Some items are can be brand new and you can pay reasonable price than purchasing brand new in the store. Families can save money purchasing at these prices rather than full retail price.
Supports Local
Most consignment shops are own by local people in your community. You also give a little extra money to families as well. Just like I love when my local Indianapolis family supports my blog. I enjoy support local business in the community and keeping the local community thriving is always important. The consignment business is a collaboration with the community. You can help fellow mom’s and dad’s purchase necessities for their kids at prices they can afford or help community members purchase items at the fraction of the cost and stay local.
Setting a Good Example
It’s easy to be consumed with stuff. Set an example for the kids that’s good to get rid of things you don’t need or no longer use. Get them involved and ask them to pick up items they no longer use. Have them look at toys they no longer play with or books they have outgrown. This is opportunity for them to also earn money and teach them to save and spend wisely in addition to not hoard stuff.
