It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Sorry, Christmas but going to the fair is pretty awesome. It’s that time again, State Fair time and it is a big event no matter where you live (I hear some states give a day off for the State Fair). My family had a chance to hit up the fair and here are 6 reasons you should be taking your family to the fair.
1. Learning
There is so much to learn at the State Farm. With the halls and exhibits geared to anything such as animals, farming, aquatic life. My kids had hands on learning while attending one of the exhibits. They got to learn about seeds and farms in Indianapolis from this teenager girl. They planted a seed and now we have a green bean growing in a bag. It was nice to see my kids asking questions and being curious and actively learning.
2. Animals
This is not like the zoo, where you see the animals from a far. This animals are less dangers. They get a chance to feed and pet them, see how big pigs can get and watch the horses perform shows. What kid would not enjoy this upclose and they are so cute!
3. Attractions
The state fair has great shows that are tradition. The first day was a hot air balloon launch. I don’t care how old you are seeing hot air balloons in the sky is beautiful sight. There are awesome free concerts of well known and slight known musicians, monster truck shows, parades and many more.
4. Rides
The rides at the fair are the precursor to the rides at the amusement park. Spending money on rides can be a mini fortune, however, the fair offers deals on certain days that can make cheaper than on other days such as the weekend. Then, there are the rides that just should be tradition such as the carousel and Ferris wheel, which is definitely great family rides.
5. Food
This maybe more for the adults than kids. The food at the fair is usually found only at the fair. This maybe the chance to try the outrageous crazy deep fried heart attack this year or just going with funnel cakes and the lemonade. Although there may not be tons of healthy options, I think it is fair to say that most indulge once in tasty food offerings at the fair. I know it is one of my favorite things to do.
A day spent at the fair is an amazing experience. You can be there all day and still not partake in everything it has to offer. Even if you go for a couple of hours and this is an event that you don’t want to miss. And if you need another reason, it is a great time to make memories with your family (reason #6).

I love the state fair, particularly to get to hang out around the animals. It’s a great way to get the kids out of the house and explore other interesting activities!
I’m a sucker for the rides! Give me a salt and pepper shaker and I’m a happy kid. Ah I love a good fair! Funnel cake too…mmmmm funnel cake.
I have not been to a state fair since I was a kid but I loved it. I never see one advertised here.
We missed the state fair this year. Insert sad face! Really wanted to enjoy it with the kids. Next time!
