2018 is here. It’s a blessing to have another year live life. There’s a lot of these going on in 2018 for our family and I can’t wait to share them with you. Here are some things we learned in 2017.
You are never too old to go back to school. I decided to go back to school. It was something I was thinking about for awhile and I applied. I talked a lot about my decision to go back to school and though I am not “old” it is easy to compare myself to others I know of my age who are farther along in the career field and feel old. But after this first year, I don’t regret my decision and I see more schooling in my future.
You can make great friends in unexpected times. I sat in a class with 30ish students and I have become good friends with some of these classmates. Some younger than me, some the same age and some older. They made me laugh, they shared their lives and life experiences and their passion. The only I was expecting from school was a degree, but I gained some friendships that I am sure will last a lifetime.
We have an amazing support group. Needed a sitter, we have a great neighbor(s) if anything would happen, we could call. A sister who picked up my kids from summer camp the days I could not. Invites for dinner and special occasions even though they knew we couldn’t make it. They kept inviting us just in case we could that one time. Calling my friend at the last minute to take me up on meeting for lunch because I actually have free time. Grateful to have people who truly a great friends and family.
A good pizza place is family must have. When is 5pm and Andy’s working and won’t be home for 1 hr or so. I also have a test this week that I am studying for and there’s no food in the fridge to make a complete meal. Or I am studying and Andy doesn’t see any ground beef or any leftover smoked brisket or pulled pork and the kids are wondering what’s for dinner. Luckily, my kids love a good pizza and good pizza place is Marco’s pizza. We have one 5 minutes from the house and they have good coupons.
Prayer and oil works for everything else. Whenever I was worried, I said a prayer. Before test, I asked my mom to say a prayer. Before a test or studying for a test, I used rosemary oil. The kids used thieves oil at night in their diffusers. Cleaning up the house, used purification oil. Something went wrong, said a prayer. Praying when a friend asked for prayers (or didn’t ask) and listening to blessings and prayers answered. Prayer is not something new. I just applied it more than I have in long time in way that I haven’t done in a long time.
These are just a few things we learned in 2017. We are a resilient family that overcame a crazy year. Blessed and excited we are for what blessings are coming 2018 for our family. So, here’s to 2018!
