Having four kids, bath time is often quite a fiasco in my house. Generally I try to alternate baths, letting two take a bath one night and the other two another night. Or as is most often the case, I bathe my newest in the mornings and the three boys at night. Luckily my 7 year old is quite helpful and often helps get the 20-month-old ready for bed.
Living here in Indiana, I have experienced my share of dry skin because of the harsh winters or the hard waters. My little lady (now 4 months old) seems to be tolerating it well. My older ones have been through last winter, when the snows were exceptionally rough, so I have gotten into a pretty rigid routine of slathering their bodies with Vaseline so they look like roasting pigs! Little lady on the other hand, I’m a bit more refined, especially since the summer has been so nice to us.
I’ve been given the opportunity to try Weleda’s baby shampoo/bath soap and lotion. Weleda is a natural and organic skin care product created to help develop a “personal approach to health care using natural ingredients that can holistically work with and support our own body’s healing tendencies.” They accomplish this by using “Biodynamic® farming methods [and] developing fair trade partnerships for a more positive impact on the world […] by empowering the individual to make positive change in the world.”
Weleda Calendula Shampoo and Body Wash is heaven in a small package! The smell is fabulous and filled the room with its refreshing scent. It cleaned my little one perfectly and was everything I expected from a body wash/shampoo for her. Weleda’s claims of “retain[ing] the moisture in your baby’s hair and skin, leaving it feeling silky smooth and protected from drying out” seemed true. My little ladies skin felt smooth and soft.
The Weleda White Mallow body lotion was awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance and is called a “mild, fragrance-free lotion, made with 95% organic ingredients, moisturizes sensitive skin and relieves itching caused by dryness.” I thought the moisturizer was sufficient. Since my little lady doesn’t experience eczema or seriously dry skin, I didn’t see much of a difference in using this lotion to any other lotion I had used. I wish that this product smelled as heavenly as the Calendula shampoo and body wash, but don’t worry, there is a Calendula body lotion.
Weleda’s products are perfect for those looking for a more natural product that is meant to work with your body not just for it.

I used to work in a health store and really had great reviews on Weleda’s creams/skin products. I used one of the calendula oils personally and it seemed to work well 🙂

I am from Indiana too. Yup, the water is really hard, but the winters are kinda mild in my part of the state. I love that the lotion won National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance. I will have to tell my niece about this! Sounds like an excellent product.

I’ve seen this brand in my local natural foods market but have never tried it. I have a few kids in my life that have sensitive skin and will have to encourage their parents to try it out.
