What’s For Dinner? The Solution

I, like many people, absolutely despise going to the grocery store. The entire process is dreadful to me. From starting the list of items needed, to pushing my way past the people blocking the isle with their idle chitchat, to finally standing in line behind someone who needs a price check on every other item. It is stressful and raises my anxiety level to a point I am never comfortable with. The problem is I absolutely love to cook. So going to the grocery store is necessary. Well, a few months ago I found a solution to my dilemma in a company called Blue Apron.

Blue apron is a food delivery service and I would categorize the food as almost gourmet. For about $10 a plate (you can hardly eat fast food for that anymore!), they send you everything you need for three separate dinners. They mail it directly to your door. No grocery store needed! Some other meal services that are comparable still make you buy some ingredients. Many of Blue Apron’s ingredients are unique, some of which I have never heard of or seen before. It was a little intimidating at first to have items in front of me I had never dealt with, but I love the challenge. Everything is measured for you and portioned perfectly. It is also an excellent choice if you are trying to manage portion control along with calorie intake because all of their food is fresh and healthy! What could be a better combination than that?!

Blue Apron Meals

Some other cool facts about Blue Apron are that you can choose your delivery day, chose vegetarian meals, even just skip a week if needed, and cancel at any time. You will learn new skills, put together beautiful dishes, and most importantly it will be some of the best tasting dishes you will ever eat. Your family will think a chef made them! So save yourself the fuss of going to the store and making lists, grab a Blue Apron box!

Well you may need to go to the store…for dessert!

I like grocery shopping but I don’t like “going” to the grocery store, if that makes sense. I hate running errands! This is a nice alternative to that!

Seems like a cool concept for some. But as a couponer and one who tries to save alot on food, I am uncertain I would do this.

I hate grocery shopping with a passion. I hate it so much that there for a bit I would go grocery shopping at my parents house. My son and I would load up in the car with out bags and just raid their house for food, of course that didn’t last too long. Blue Apron sounds like a really cool service.

I love grocery shopping I just can’t stand the long lines. This sounds wonderful for me. I have a 11 months old and sometimes I just don’t have time to prepare dinner, so we end up eating out.

I’m not a huge fan of grocery stores, either. You know, I read an article the other day that said supermarkets never really got their start until the 1950’s. Until then, everyone got their food locally or grew their own…

I think this sounds wonderful for parents whom are wealthier. I would be great if this program was more affordable for low income parents. It would give them an oppertunity to feed their families Healthy meals. Being a single mom who right now struggles with paying bills, putting gas in the vehicle, as well as food on the table. There are sometimes the budget for food is slim. It is cheaper to feed your family unhealthier meals than to be able to afford the fresh fruits, veggies, and other healthier meals.

We have the same thing here in Iceland. I thought it was a genius idea so I tried it last month hehe 🙂 The only thing is that they only offer the service once a week (you also get dinners for 3 days). But I still think it´s a great service! 🙂
