With 4 kids, you would think that working out isn’t exactly in the forefront of my mind. My newest little one just turned two months old, which means I got the okay from my OB to get back into my work out routine. So, what exactly do I do to stay in shape when I am battling with 4 other little ones? Easy. I get them involved. My two older boys love to play their x-box. I pop in one of my favorite dance games, choose the work out mode and we compete for the highest scores! My little guy is only 18 months, so he isn’t exactly getting all the moves. With him, I dance the fat away. I can pick him up and put him down, doing squats. He loves this and laughs so much while we “play”. My newest little angel is too young to get too involved in our dance party, but she still gets to help out. When all the dancing and burning calories ends, I bring over my sweetness and she gets to do the cool down with me. My eldest son is really into yoga. Little lady gets to lay down gently on her favorite blanket while I stretch out my sore muscles. Trust me, all the dancing around with your kiddos will wear them out and work you out. When we finally settle down to meditate for a few minutes, little lady gets to rest gently on my lap and enjoy some family time.
Working out doesn’t have to always mean sweating buckets at the gym. Working out for a Mama can mean many things. Most importantly though, it means I get to spend extra time with my favorite little people. They laugh and get to play with Mama and I get to burn some calories while spending quality time with them.
Forget workout in the traditional sense. Spend some extra time with the kids. Run through the grass, play hop-scotch or just dance around the kitchen while singing out loud.
Be happy, stay healthy and have fun!

I loved this post! Getting the kids involved is a great way to squeeze in a little workout 🙂 My oldest loves yoga too, it is a great way to stretch out and it helps calm them down too!

I love working out with the family and dancing around the house with the kids. My two are a bit older (6-12) and we do a lot of outside things to get my heart rate up. They love to play catch with freesbies and balls (you never know how out of shape you are until you play catch with a 6 year old).
Like you said, it doesn’t have to be hard and boring!

I am so not on point this week. It has been bad! Time to get on track.
